Here we explain what a collection is.

A collection, on our end, is just a different way of categorizing information. You have already been through communities and categories, which are other ways of categorizing. This one is particular because there are two separate ways of categorizing our collections.
There are personal collections, which is where a person can have a collection of information and/or stories and decide to lump them all together. If they had 3 videos, 2 poems, 1 non-fction piece, and 3 archival photos, they could create a collection with all of the information together so that it’s easy to find.
Then there are collections of communities. One example of a collection on the website is Our Stories Matter from the Lethbridge Public Library which is a collection of residential school survivors from various backgrounds (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) living on the Blackfoot Confederacy Territory to share their stories. These people are from various communities and backgrounds, so it makes sense for them to have their own collection to share together as a part of a project but not from one designated community. These collections can also get featured on the homepage
