YRL Discovery Day - Indigenous Kits and Services

Summary:
YRL hosted an Open House event where we featured some of our Indigenous Kits and had the opportunity to discuss Indigenous Initiatives
Description:

YRL hosted a Discovery Day event for trustees, board members, and school division leaders to learn more about YRL’s work and initiatives.

Featured at this open house event were some of our Indigenous Kits, including our two Ribbon Skirt Kits, our Indigenous Animals Storytime Kit, and our Métis Kit.

These kits are for YRL’s member libraries to use in their libraries for programming and displays. They are a great way for patrons and staff to learn more about Indigenous cultures through stories, resources and creation.

Also featured was a poster on how member library boards can work with and learn from Indigenous communities to create a more welcoming library space. This created many positive discussions about how YRL member libraries are hoping to include more Indigenous initiatives and programs in their services.
